For the past few weeks we've been running our East End Report, a wrap-up of the week's news from Greenport to Riverhead to Montauk, with each Patch site's most compelling story. We thought it might interest our readers if we added in a weekly business wrap-up, so you're in the know on which businesses are coming and going in the area. In doing so, we'll reserve the East End Report for anything from big decisions in town halls to interesting profiles of people on the East End.

RIVERHEAD

Peconic YMCA May Find Home in Aquebogue

After an arduous 15-year search for the right piece of land on which to build a YMCA, members of the Peconic Y said this week they've found a willing seller on an 8.8-acre plot of land on Route 25 in Aquebogue, and a piece of land they believe would be a great fit. The next step is getting the project through Town Hall.

Java Nation 'Squatting' at Sag Harbor Shopping Cove

Despite a Jan. 31 deadline to move out of its spot in the Shopping Cove in the heart of Sag Harbor village, café and coffee roaster Java Nation had not budged as of Wednesday, Feb. 1.

According to manager Carolina Perez, Java Nation is “squatting” at the moment, but the café owners are in talks to move to the Grenning Gallery building on Washington Steet. Perez said while the Shopping Cove landlord, Bruce Slovin, is not happy about Java Nation still being there, the café owners have a good lawyer.  Slovin could not be reached for comment.

WESTHAMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS

Westhampton Beach's Big City Burgers Expands to North Fork

After a soft opening for mostly friends and family this past weekend, Big City Burgers Atomic Wings expanded its Westhampton Beach location, opening its doors on Monday at the former Bahia location in the Waldbaum’s shopping center in Mattituck, according to the Suffolk Times.

Bucket's Owner Decides To Close Up Shop

Bucket's Deli, a decades-old East Hampton Village staple, is closing its doors on Feb. 24.

According to 27East, owner Everett Griffiths had been thinking about closing for sometime. Signs behind the counter let customers know he had made up his mind.

Blue Duck Bakery Adding Location in Riverhead

Blue Duck Bakery, currently of Southold and Southampton, is planning on adding a third retail location in downtown Riverhead by the summer. Owner Keith Kouris said he's been looking in Riverhead for about a year and was hoping to get a bigger space to include a production facility, but is still looking forward to opening up a bakery on Main Street, across from the Riverhead Project. He hopes to be open by mid-June.
