To Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell, the North Fork faces issues that are much different than the South Fork — which is why he said at Tuesday's Town Board work session that he is vehemently against a redistricting proposal that would unite the Twin Forks and Shelter Island in between to form a new First Assembly Distric which is it

redistricting is driven by voting power not by needs of the voters. the close to perfect alignment is one that considers the needs of the area . i.e. south fork, north fork riv. twn ship and bkhvn are the beast break down but would increase the rep.'s by tow (2) and all the associated costs (taxes). is what we have better than so/no considering our rep includes bkhvn? i am for n, s, bk, riv and am willing to pay for equal shared incerase for the better rep.

trust me i will find a good wind from the north and i will haul up the bow lines set the mast and be off the island for good. i lived through the gentrification of the town [scorn] of huntington 40 years, the debacle of govt they call crookhaven for 8 years and I came here for the way of life I wanted..... ask any southampton life long resident what happened when the rich wanted all the power lines placed underground ..the only Rules that will be represented is the 'will of the super rich' i learned a long time ago the the GOLDEN RULE is really He that has the GOLD makes the RULES...

gerrymandering - is a human trait that transends politics and even business. we all do it even in families - while the term is political oriented and created to describe a political "manuever" the action is quite human in base. we all align ourselves with like views.

ask the same long term south fork people about underground lines when the power is out. rules are by the majority "he who has the most gets the most" any empire gained and ruled by the "most fierce fighters" and "got the most gold". where are they now - long live capitalism and freedom. don't run (its self serving) stay and fight...

not really it was by a gov of a n.e. state who was named gerry and a district shaped like a salamander... it was to create a democratic majority... "aw com'on " where else could get the motivation to keep the blood flowing and the mind alive ... nothin like the no. fork --- and i spent 35 years in bkhvn form 24 in hunt. also

i was joking about gerry and trying to make a point about why every time a politician opens his mouth you better put you hand over your wallet and squeeze it...i guess it so much for my bucolic way of life....i went back to work in the family construction biz as the pres. and have been a ble to see more work in the past two months than in the past three years.. the recession is over no help from obama the end of the recession is just the nature of the cycle . roads and bridges wear out and the greater the population the faster it happens . Illegal immigration does have some good points more people using the roads causes long term biz for me..and i pout people to work Eight perm hires in eight weeks and more to come....

Well the money speaks and you guys said it. No reason for you to leave. The poor and illegals will be here to do your grunt work. Skilled workers you don't want to pay a decent wage, so the skilled left for greener pastures. May I suggest you take your boats and complaints and do the same. Let's encourage more farmers to come here as we have enough cry baby exploitive business. BTW, Scott and Sean ain't love grand?

So, Bob, you're a head hunter. That's fine. You're living the good life out here while the scope of your business and job placements occurs in NYC. The best of both worlds. Do you place local persons in high paying positions on the North
Fork? or are there any six figure jobs here except for teachers , school administrators, lawyers and municipal workers? The only thing I know about you is what you write here. And not too well at that. I fail to see how having a surname that ends in a vowel entitles you to any special discrimination. You may note that mine also ends in a vowel even in the corrupted version. BTW, explain OC guy.

“Sometimes” vowels do not “count” (a e I o and u) ... expressionism only works at the Dali museum in Tampa, fl…. and intellectuality does not qualify for elitism listen to any JFK speech there are more “ah’s” than one can keep track of… anybody in a position to hire is a head hunter and most headhunters and aborigines. If making six figures is a criterion for happiness than one should go where “entitlement” only pays that income. Copious quantity of mindless drivel does not qualify for income hard work does. I choose not to work in NYC and pay the emotional and mental toll to make six figures but I applaud those who do.
