Nearly 200 children gathered with parents and grandparents at the Riverhead High School auditorium Wednesday evening to celebrate the end of the Riverhead Free Library's Summer Reading Program.

According to Head of Children's Services at the Library Laurie Harrison, this yer 344 children finished the summer reading program, which was themed 'One World, Many Stories'.

Riverhead Town Supervisor Sean Walter was present at the celebration to encourage the children to keep reading and to select a child to be 'Supervisor for a Day.' The child chosen, Katherine Motlenski, 9, of Aquebogue, said her first act as supervisor would be to rename her street "Dumbeldore's Army," from the popular Harry Potter series.

Assemblyman Dan Losquadro was also present. He announced that the children would receive certificates of completion from his office to mark their accomplishment in completing the program.

The celebration kicked off with a concert from The Fuzzy Lemons, a kid-friendly Rock 'n' Roll band from Hoboken, New Jersey. The evening ended with an ice cream social in the cafeteria.
