Question of the Day: What Brings You Downtown?

From weekly car cruises to restaurants to just sitting by the river, downtown has something for all different kinds of people.

Downtown Riverhead may not be Times Square, but for some, that's exactly it's charm.

A recently renovated Grangebel Park, community garden, and a few new restaurants are but a few of the changes recently which have come about downtown, all with the end game of bringing feet and visitors to East and West Main Streets.

We're curious what brings you downtown. Are you a student at the culinary school? Have you got your prescriptions from Barry Barth, or glasses from Allied Optical, for decades? Enjoy fishing off the docks of the Peconic River? Or eating at one of the handful of restaurants downtown?

Whatever brings you downtown, we want to know. Because maybe someone else would like to do it, too!

I come downtown to eat breakfast at Poppa Nick's, work inside Green Earth Natural Foods Market at 50 E. Main St. and tend to my space inside the Roots and River Community Garden! :))

Via the Riverhead Patch Facebook page, from Ron Maloney: "I like the Riverfront. Also new restaurants like Turkuiz Grill. Also hear the Riverhead Project on Main too. Great walks and new hotel coming soon"

Lately it has been the Community Garden that has brought us downtown a few times a week, to water our family garden bed. We frequent the library, the aquarium, and take walks down Main Street on a regular basis though. It is a very exciting time in the community with so many businesses opening and the Hyatt and Exhibition Center, why not take a stroll downtown :-)
