Unidentified Bicyclist Hit by Car, Airlifted to Hospital

Accident occurred on Wading River-Manor Road in Wading River; police seeking help identifying bicyclist.

An unidentified bicyclist who was struck by a car Wednesday evening on Wading River-Manor Road was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center after sustaining serious injuries.

According to Riverhead Police, 29-year old Michelle Richter of Mastic was driving her 2009 Nissan Altima northbound on the street around 6:10 p.m. when she hit the rider, who had no identification on her and had not been ID'd as of roughly 11:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Richter was not arrested, as police said "sun glare may have played a role" in the incident, though the accident is still under investigation.

The unidentified woman was described by police as a white female with short dark hair.
