User Video: SWRWeekly.com Interview With Dominique Mendez
A Video interview with Dominique Mendez, pres of Riverhead Neighborhood Preservation Coalition by Kevin Wood of SWRWeekly.com.
Kevin Wood of SWRWeekly.com provided this interview with Dominique Mendez, co-founder of the Riverhead Neighborhood Preservation Coalition.
Mendez and other civics have battled with town board members over development in the Wading River corridor, most recently demanding a public workshop they felt had been overlooked in the conceptual stages of a Route 25A corridor study for the area.
Residents can come to the public workshop being held Saturday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. to noon at St. John the Baptist church in Wading River. There they may discuss their concerns and share their ideas on the type of development they feel is compatible in Wading River.
Wood offered this interview, and says that it is his intention to also interview any willing land owner/developer and to also take in comments from residents and business owners.

Good interview. Surely the owners/developers would want to take advantage of this forum to put their case and publicise why such developments are important and wanted by the communit. I've seen a comment to the effect that hundreds attending this workshop means nothing since the majority who didn't show up must be in favor of this development so await from them too the rationale for such development, especially in light of what's said here but current business owners and how much space already exists for any new business.

Unfortunatly as much as they may the people have absolutly zero say as to what a land owner build's on their property. They will all find out eventually when these projects are built.

Yes, but land use and land planning, as it's said in this interview, is something that is NOT just decided by any owner...which is the reply to those who think that someone should be able to do what they like with their own property. This point is well made here: any property purpose has element of risk, values change, land use develops with knowledge and studies...
