Beer Project, Tent Sale and Fun for the Kids in Riverhead On Wednesday

Here's a rundown on some fun things to do in Riverhead on Wednesday.

Here's a look at what's happening in Riverhead on Wednesday.

- Head to An Exhibit: An exhibit on the ecological and cultural history of the Pine Barrens entitled “Barren and Waste Land: Long Islanders and the Pine Barrens,” is open to the public through September 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.in the lobby of the Evans K. Griffing building in the Riverhead County Center. The exhibit explores the rich past of Long Island’s key wilderness area. Topics explored include the glacial origin of the Pine Barrens during the last Ice Age and the dry, acidic and nutrient-poor soils found in much of the area which helped shape the types of habitats found there.  

- The Beer Project: The Riverhead Project, located at 300 East Main Street in Riverhead, has kicked off the Beer Project, presented by Beermeister Terrance Daly. Featured every Wednesday evening, the event spotlights different beer-themed events including pairing dinners, seminars, keggers and beer pairings. The Beer School will be held with Daly every second Wednesday and features mini-lectures, beer samples and handouts. 

Tent Sale: Apple Honda in Riverhead is hosting a tent sale Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Learn about the issues: An East End Transportation Council meeting takes place at Town Hall at 10:30 a.m.; a Conservation Advisory Council meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., also at Town Hall.

- Take the kids for a Safari Adventure on Pulaski Street in Riverhead. New are motion-sensored floor games in the café area, Motion CoMMotion. Children can jump, stomp, walk and explore hands-free motion-sensored games, all with their feet. 

Ladies' Night: Wednesday is Ladies' Night at the All Star bowling alley, with drink specials from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m.

- Catch a flick. There's a movie of the week at the Riverhead Senior Center on Shade Tree Lane on Wednesday at 12:45 p.m.
