Costco Site Talk, Cry For Clean Water, Crochet in Riverhead Tuesday

Here's a look at Riverhead on Tuesday:

- The day dawned partly cloudy, with high temps expected to reach 70 degrees.

- Dick Amper and other environmentalists will hold a press conference to call on government to take action on water quality. The Long Island Clean Water Partnership will hold a press conference at 11:30 a.m. at the Suffolk County Center in Riverside to call on state, county and town governments to take action to reverse the decline in groundwater quality across Long Island.  

- A special meeting of the Riverhead Town planning board will be held at 4 p.m. to discuss the site plan for a parcel on Route 58 where a future Costco will be built. The site has sparked a public outcry after land and tree clearing in recent months.

- A candidates forum will be held at a meeting of the Flanders, Riverside and Northampton Community Association at 7 p.m. at the David W. Crohan Community Center in Flanders. Candidates for Southampton Town Supervisor and town board seats will face off.

- It's Crochet Basics at the Riverhead Free Library at 10 a.m.
