10 Places to Grab a Drink With Old Friends

Looking to kick back and catch up with some friends? Stop by one of these local places during the holiday season.

The holidays are a great time to catch up with old friends. It is also a great time to grab a drink and relax amongst all the chaos this time of the year can bring. So grab some old high school friends or those you haven't seen in awhile and travel to one of these local joints.

This historic restaurant and bar opened for business in 1896 and is believed to be the oldest bar in the North Fork. The bar is made of mahogany and marble, created in 1893 for the Exposition in Chicago. Local food and wine is featured on their menu. This is a great place to gather and take in the ambiance which includes a trophy head of the last bison hunted by Teddy Roosevelt in the Dakota "Badlands." 631-208-3151.

With a bar that spans almost an entire wall of the restaurant, obtaining a drink at this restaurant will not be a problem. Greenport Harbor Brewery beers are featured, wines from Peconic, California and France are available as well as ocally-inspired cocktails. 631-208-0072.

Now, their happy hour is even better because, being of legal age, I can participate in their two for one drink specials. Rendezvous with your friends at Cliff's Rendezvous. This local sports bar on E Main Street has been serving up steaks and cocktails since 1977. Kick back and enjoy the big game in this casual setting.

If you and your friends enjoy craft beers then this pub is the place for you! The staff is knowledgeable about the brewing process, which allows for an informative and enjoyable beer tasting. 9. O'Mally's

This restaurant features local wines, which can be paired with one of their 33 burgers, steak or seafood. Make your belly happy and eat, drink and be merry with some friends! They are located at 44780 County Road 48 in Southold and are open for lunch on Saturday at 11:30 am; Sunday at 12 p.m and for dinner Sun.-Sat., 4:30 p.m.- 12 a.m. 631-765-2111.

10. Cliff's Elbow Room

Named for its small size, this cozy establishment and cousin to #7 on the list features quality steaks and seafood as well as a small country bar. They have local wines from vineyards such as Martha Clara, Pindar and Duck Walk. Bottled and Draft beer are also available. Come in with your friends for good food and great drinks. 631-722-3292.
