5 Fun Things To Do In Riverhead This Weekend

From a parade bursting with hometown spirit to a Little League kickoff, there are a host of festivities taking place around town this weekend.

With spring in full swing, Riverhead Town is coming alive with events that will please everyone in the family. Here's a rundown of the best things to do around town this weekend.

Go to a parade. On Sunday at 1 p.m., the and Riverhead Town will host a parade on Main Street to celebrate winning season. Featured in the parade lineup will be the team, the Blue Krew, the high school band, the NJROTC Color Guard, students, parents, elected officials, civic groups, and members of the police and fire departments. The parade will kick off on Main Street, turn left on Peconic Avenue and end with a short ceremony honoring players in the waterfront area.

See a show. This weekend, members of the Theatre Company present their version of "Jekyll & Hyde, the Musical." Friday and Saturday night, the show starts at 7:30 pm; a matinee performance will follow on Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person. On Friday night, the school hosts the Mercy on a Mission Annual Spaghetti Dinner before the play, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $15 and include dinner and a ticket to the show. Cheer on Little League. Celebrate 60 years of Riverhead Little League with Opening Day, Saturday at 1 p.m. at Stotzky Park. A Players' Parade begins at 1 p.m. with festivities to include raffles, prizes, giveaways, baseball demonstrations, and special guest appearances by Quacker Jack of the Long Island Ducks and New York Mets legend Mookie Wilson.

Go to a fundraiser. The Riverhead Move the Animal Shelter (RMTAS) organization hosts a fundraiser on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Eagle's Landing at Calverton Links. Car show, vendors, bands. (In other RMTAS news, a ribbon cutting and opening day of the new dog park at Enterprise Park at Calverton, originally slated for this Saturday, will be rescheduled as work on the area is not yet complete.)
