5 Things To Do Around Riverhead This Weekend

Wondering what to do this weekend in Riverhead? Here's a list of five of the top events taking place around town.

Take a Botany Walk: Learn about local plants and late season wildflowers Saturday on a guided two-mile meander through Hallockville's fields and up to Jamesport State Park. Hosted by the Hallockville Museum Farm. Heavy rain cancels. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Reservations required. Fee.

Riverhead High School Homecoming: Saturday is Homecoming Day in Riverhead, with a parade down Main Street scheduled to kick off at 12:30 and the homecoming game scheduled at Riverhead High School at 2 p.m.

Tanger Halloween Spooktacular: AAA Member Day at Tanger 2012 takes place on Saturday at Tanger Outlet Center in Riverhead from noon to 4 p.m. This year's Spooktacular event will include a pumpkin patch and pony rides for the children and lots of fun for the entire family. AAA experts will be on hand to do battery checks and children's cars seat safety checks. The Spooktacular will be held rain or shine in the Tanger 1 Tommy Hilfiger parking lot. 

Darkside Haunted House: Wading River's Darkside Haunted House is one of the spookiest, scariest, most hauntingly fun Halloween experiences around town. The 100-year-old potato barn, since 1988, has been transformed into a Halloween experience for families and thrill seekers. Head on over on Friday night from 7 p.m. to midnight, on Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight, and on Sunday from 6 pm. to 11 p.m.

Lawn Mower Event and Childrens Bicycle Races:  Riverhead Elk's Lodge will host a lawn mower event and children's bicycle races on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
