August 5: Chinese Auction to Benefit Cancer, Autism Foundations

Also, picking up trash and learning about food allergies.

1. The American Legion on 89 Hubbard Avenue in Riverhead will host the to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure (breast cancer research) and Autism Speaks tonight starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are free, and guests are invited to buy raffle tickets to win the prizes offered at the event.

2. Volunteers from the Peconic Estuary Program will help this morning starting at 8 a.m. Additional volunteers are welcome to help pull out invasive weeds.

3. The  will teach parents and education professionals about how to in children at a lecture Friday morning at 9 a.m. The seminar costs $20 per person.

4. Photographer John Neely will be exhibiting images of New Orleans during of his show at at 5:30 p.m. The exhibit will run until Sept. 11.
