'Back in Black' Puppy Mill Rescue Finds Home Through Kent

Molly hit the "jackpot," according to Kent Animal Shelter Executive Director Pam Green.

A female black dog, six, rescued from a puppy mill earlier this month, has been adopted, according to the Kent Animal Shelter in Calverton.

“Molly” was one of 30 dogs rescued from a midwest puppy mill by the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons in concert with the Rescue Road Warriors.

She was one of 10 dogs to arrive at Kent Animal Shelter for care, food and shelter while awaiting adoption.

Kent is currently offering a promotion to help black pets, which are often overlooked, find homes, as part of a national “Back in Black” promotion throughout November sponsored by Best Friends Animal Society.

“We’re especially happy for Molly because she’s a rescued puppy mill dog and eligible for our ‘Back in Black’ adoption promotion this month,” said Pamela Green, Kent’s Executive Director. “She really hit the jackpot, and all of us at Kent are high-fiving each other.”

Molly is the fifth pet to get adopted so far this month thanks to the “Back in Black” promotion. The shelter is showcasing black dogs, cats, puppies and kittens that are often left behind. Adoption fees for black animals are 50 percent off during November as part of this promotion. To see the pets, click here.
