Costumed Couple Gets Engaged At New Dog Park Opening

It was a proposal one soon-to-be bride will never forget.

Dogs and cats can get along.

So said Riverhead Town Councilman Jim Wooten at the opening of the new Duke Dog Park at Stotzky Park when two ardent volunteers got engaged.

Dressed in his dog costume, Neil MacDonald, brother of Riverhead Move the Animal Shelter founder Denise Lucas, popped the question to his purrfect love, Camela Dwyer, who was decked out as a cat.

The kitty accepted the sparkling ring and the happy couple sealed the deal with a kiss.

The dog park is the second in Riverhead that Lucas has helped to open with fundraising. The first opened last year at Enterprise Park at Calverton.
