Create Easter Fun for You and Your Pet

Don't leave your pet out of the Easter festivities. Get creative and with these ways to incorporate your pet into the holiday fun.

Easter dinners.ย  Easter baskets. Easter egg hunts. Easter Sunday church services.

Easter is a religious holiday that is also full of fun for the entire family. But as you're celebrating, don't forget your four-legged friend.

There are plenty of opportunities to include your pet while celebrating. This week, Four Legged and Furry will feature some fun ideas that you can try out this holiday season.

1. The Dog Friendly Easter Egg Hunt

No one wants a dog running around the yard picking up plastic eggs that might crack in their mouth or even worse real eggs that may cause some pretty terrible digestive problems. But just because your pup can't play with eggs doesn't mean he or she can't join in on the family fun.

All you need to play this game is some treats or toys that your pet loves. Once you have those, without your pet around, take the treats/toys and hide them in various places in the yard or room. Then, let your pet back in.

Depending on the level of play your pet prefers, he or she will need different levels or encouragement. A dog who is highly active will probably smell the treats/toys and go in search of them right away. A pet who is not as active can be shown a treat or a toy or even the first hiding spot until your pet understands the game that is being played.

It's fun to play this game as the kids hunt for their eggs. It allows your dog to be part of the family fun, running around the yard, without you having to worry about the dog taking away the kids' eggs. The dog will be much more interested in his own toys/treats.

2. Easter Baskets

Who says the Easter Bunny just visits the children in your house?ย  What about your pet?

In many ways, Easter marks the beginning of spring (and hopefully warm weather), so there are lots of new spring gifts available for your pet. From frisbees to enjoy outside with dogs to furry mice toys that your cat can have in each room of the house, there is plenty available to fill up your pet's Easter basket.

Don't want to spend a lot of money? No problem! Get a small basket for your pet and fill it with some treats you already have for your little one. Then, buy one small new toy to put on top or just let your pet dig into the basket of treats. Your pet will be thrilled with anything they receive from the Easter Bunny.

3. Easter treats

Speaking of treats, Easter, like many holidays, revolves around food. Unfortunately, it's a lot of food that your pet probably shouldn't have - like that Cadbury Egg you're waiting for.

So, since there's going to be a lot of restrictions on what your pet can eat on Easter, why not get your four legged friend a treat just for him or her. Pet speciality stores often offer homemade treats for your pet, including pet safe chocolate.

Get Fido or Kitty something special to enjoy on Easter and they'll spend a lot less time begging for your personal Easter treat.
