Despite a Rainy Morning, Memorial Day Parade Marches on as Scheduled

Heavy rains don't stop local veterans from running parade route.

This Memorial Day started off rainy, but the parade still went on.

Riverhead Town Fire Department, VFW, town officials, local scouting clubs, ROTC and the Riverhead High School band marched in a circle around town from Pulaski Street School, to the Historical Society, St Johns Cemetery and back to Pulaski Street School, stopping to lay wreaths, fire 21-gun salutes and play Taps in honor of our veterans.

U.S. Marine Corps specialist and Calverton resident Emily Connors led the parade, along with VFW Commander Joe Edler and former Commander Gene McSherry.

Lisa - is there any way to post on the main page? That would be a big help. Thank you.
