Santa will make a much-anticipated visit to Riverhead Sunday as the annual Lions Club Christmas Parade kicks off at at 1 p.m.

The parade, which begins at Osbourne Avenue, heads to Main Street, and winds up at the Peconic Riverfront, is a favorite for many hoping for a glimpse of jolly St. Nick.

A highlight of the event takes place when Riverhead Town Supervisor Sean Walter presents Santa with a key to Riverhead.

The event is infused with holiday and community spirit as bands, Scouts, and scores of other firefighters and other local groups march, much to the delight of spectators.
