Don't Miss: Polar Bear Plunge, 'Freezin' A Reason'

The Maureen's Haven program helps to feed and shelter the homeless during the cold winter months.

Scores of brave souls will take the plunge on Saturday to help keep the homeless warm and fed.

The 7th Annual Polar Bear Plunge, "Freezin' For a Reason," to benefit the Maureen's Haven homeless program, takes place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, at the Wharf House at Founder's Landing on Hobart Avenue in Southold.

Maureen's Haven, which operates under the auspices of Peconic Community Council, brings together a network of area churches and volunteers who provide the homeless with shelter, food and lunches from November 1 through March 31 every winter.

The event kicks off at 9 a.m. with registration, along with bagels, coffee, and hot chocolate donated by Panera Bread in Riverhead.

The Plunge will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a pancake breakfast sponsored by Applebee's in Riverhead.
