East End Arts Council Unveils New Logo and Name Change

The newly renamed "East End Arts" unveiled a new logo for the organization's upcoming 40th year.

"East End Arts Council" no more. The East End Arts Council announced they will change their name to and unveiled a new logo during their annual members meeting Tuesday evening.

Over 75 members of the East End Arts Council gathered in the carriage house on the grounds to hear the announcement, which was well received by members in attendance.

Executive Director Patricia Snyder said the new name and logo represented how far the EAAC has come since its creation 40 years ago.

"It gets to be confusing who we are, and maybe the term East End Arts Council is not the proper term for us, anymore." Synder said. "It certainly was in 1972 but in 2011, maybe not."

Snyder kicked off the meeting by taking a moment to reflect on all the organization has accomplished this year.

"We are here in the town of Riverhead for a very important reason." stated Snyder, "We bring a cultural entity to the middle of town, and we feel we are offering a strong presence here."

Stephanie Smith was introduced as the new Marketing Director for East End Arts. Smith, an alumnus of the School of the Arts, announced they would be utilizing more social media this year.

"It really will allow us to connect with audiences that we may not have otherwise connected with." stated Smith.

Education Director Steve Watson, presented a slide show created by the "artist in residents" program and the students attending audio-visual camp, that showed an overview of the music education that has taken place throughout the year.

The volunteers of the year were also announced at the meeting. This year, East End Arts chose to honor a couple, Peter and Terry Lang.

The Council said the Langs have gone above and beyond volunteering this year in the gallery, at events, bringing in food, and helping wherever and whenever they are asked.

Suffolk County Legislator Ed Romaine was in attendance and presented the Langs with a proclamation declaring Tuesday "Peter and Terry Lang Day" for their dedication to the East End Arts Council.

Riverhead Town Councilman James Wooten and Councilwoman Jodi Giglio also presented the Lang's with a proclamation from the town of Riverhead.
