East End Mental Health Awareness Day Is Saturday

Workshops and panel discussions hosted in Southampton.

The 10th annual East End Mental Health Awareness Day is this Saturday, taking place at Southampton High School with panels, speakers and workshops on an array of mental health issues.

Bobbie Kaufman, a board-certified art therapist, will moderate the opening panel discussion on "Stories of Challenges and Personal Resilience," and in the afternoon, Michael Stoltz, the executive director of The Clubhouse of Suffolk, will share his years of experience as a mental health professional and discuss today’s challenges.

Morning workshops will include "Mental Health in Children, "Mental Health in Adolescents and Young Adults," "Mental Health in Senior Citizens" and "Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome." The afternoon programs will concern happiness, well being through self-expression and creating support systems.

Lunch will be provided at the event, which is open to anyone concerned with mental health issues including family members, individuals living with a mental illness, community members and professionals.

Registration, with coffee and tea, begins at 8:30 a.m., with the welcoming at 9 a.m., and the day's events end at 3 p.m.
