Stay Tuned for First Momsday

Look for a series of articles outlining everything important to mothers and families in Riverhead.

Riverhead Patch works hard every day to highlight the most important news, most interesting people, the most educational and entertaining activities going on around town. And starting tomorrow, we're adding to that valuable content by launching a series of articles written by local moms, dedicated to local moms, which will run each week.

"Momsday" will kick off at 6 a.m. with "The Mother of All Deals," a rundown of bargains and discounts we found locally to help families save some cash.

The "Grab and Go Kids Planner" will run at 10 a.m., highlighting family friendly weekend activities to make planning for mom and dad easier.

At 12 p.m., we'll run a profile of a local "Whiz Kid" — and we're always taking nominations. Please take a look at  and send the info on your favorite whiz kid to josephp@patch.com.

which will debut at 1 p.m., is a live, interactive session featuring a council of local moms talking about their local experience and frustrations as mothers and hot topics of the day. Your comments are welcome as the ladies chat. Just shout out your thoughts in the white box in the top right corner of the home page.

We round out "Momsday" with a 4 p.m. post called "The Great Escape." The column features weekly thoughts from a local mom on ideal weekend getaways rivaling Calgon to take even the busiest mom away.

Of course, you'll still be able to find news and engaging features every Wednesday on Riverhead Patch. But hopefully everyone can find something valuable in the addition of "Momsday," one of our new weekly events of 2011.
