First Blizzard of 2010 Hits Riverhead

The beginning of the storm brings white out conditions.

The first flakes of snow started falling around 9:30 a.m. By around noon, the ground started to turn white as the Weather Channel reported estimates of 12-18 inches by the time the storm ends.

Not quite in time for a White Christmas, but on the holiday weekend, nonetheless.

By 1:30 p.m. the roads were getting slippery and covered with the snow. While the main roads weren't too bad to manuveur, getting around the back roads were a bit more tricky.
