Frugal Family: Thrift Store Shopping

Take a look at some deals you can find in and around Riverhead.

Thrift stores are a great way to save money on play clothes, costumes, antiques and more. They can also be a great place to receive a tax credit when you donate or to make some extra cash through consignment sales. Take a look at a few places around Riverhead to save a few bucks:

Baiting Hollow Congregational Church Thrift Store:  2416 Sound Avenue, Calverton.  727-6141

This is a seasonal thrift store mostly managed by Bertha Fricke and her loyal volunteers from the Batiting Hollow Congregational Church.  A typical piece of family clothing costs between $.50 and $3.  They also have art work, glassware, and household decor.  Donations accepted during store hours or you can call to schedule a drop off time for large furniture items. Just ask for Bertha.  Receipts for donations are available.  They are open from March through November.
