Funeral Services Set For Wading River Man Who Died In Tragic Crash

A wake will take place on Tuesday, with funeral services to follow Wednesday.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Wading River resident Joseph Amodemo, Jr., 66, who died tragically on Friday after a car accident in Calverton.

A wake will be held on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Alexander-Tuthill Funeral Home in Wading River.

A funeral mass will take place on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Wading River.

Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram.

According to Riverhead Town Police, Amodemo, Jr.  died after a car accident at the intersection of Route 25 and Route 25A in Calverton that occurred at 10 a.m. on Friday.

Police said Amodemo, who was driving a 2011 Honda Accord, was struck by a 1995 GMC Yukon operated by Meghan Campbell, 20, of Shoreham.

Amodemo Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.

Campbell was transported by Wading River Fire Department Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Her passenger, Chris Zullo, 25, of Riverhead, was airlifted by Suffolk County Police Department helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of head injuries.

No charges were filed.
