Get Out: Your Weekend Planner Has Irish Music, Art, and Fundraisers

Do you love karaoke? There's a fundraiser right up your alley this weekend.

There’s a lot going on this weekend. From art to two worthy benefits, step out on the town and meet up with old friends or make some new ones.

  • Where/When: Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Riverhead Free Library
  • Why go: Join the reference librarians and find out what titles are new at the library, enjoy some refreshments and learn what your neighbors are reading.
  • Pricing: Free.

  • Where/When: Friday night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Riverhead Free Library
  • Why go: See the artistic talents of our local teens.
  • Pricing: Free admission

  • Where/When: Saturday at 11 a.m. at the East End Arts Council
  • Why go: Artists need as many tools as they can get their hands on to market their work. Blogging can be fun and productive.
  • Pricing: $30 for members/ $45 for non-members

  • Where/When: Martha Clara Vineyards on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Why go: Get in the St. Patrick’s Day spirit with some great Irish spirit.

  • Where/When: Saturday night from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Vail-Leavitt Music Hall
  • Why go: Who doesn’t love a good karaoke party? The proceeds from this benefit go to East End Hospice.
  • Pricing: $25 in advance/$30 at the door.

  • Where/When: Saturday Night from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Atlantis Marine World
  • Why go: The money raised from this event goes to The Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation. You’re literally helping stranded seals and turtle with your contribution.
  • Pricing: $150

  • Where/When: Sunday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Riverhead Free Library
  • Why go: This is the place to go for a free hearing and blood pressure check. There will be information available on preventative and screening techniques for the whole family.
  • Pricing: Free

Reaching the Audience: Jazz in the Digital Age

  • Where/When: Saturday afternoon at 1 at Vail-Leavitt Music Hall
  • Why go: While the live performances have been a blast over the past month, listening about how jazz is changing - or not changing - in the digital age will be an interesting conversation to sit in on. Especially considering the discussion panel. 
  • Pricing: Free
