Last Chance: Give Pets a Chance at L.I.'s Biggest Adopt-A-Thon

Adopt-a-thon at Polish Hall will feature nine pet rescue groups, over 100 dogs and 50 cats.

If you're anywhere close to considering adopting a dog or cat - or just love to be around animals - Saturday at the Polish Hall is the place to be.

Nine animal rescue organizations from East Hampton to Hempstead will be letting the dogs out - and the cats - at . 

Over 100 dogs, and 50 cats, are expected to be at the expo, which will take place indoors.

The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons is organizing the free event, which will run from noon to 5 p.m.

Jamie Berger likened the event to a "one-stop shop" for pet lovers, and said that the strength in numbers in approach would hopefully help get the word out a little better about the groups' common mission - to adopt out rescue animals.

Participating shelters include: Kent Animal Shelter, Long Island Kitties, North Fork Animal Welfare League, Riverhead Animal Shelter, SAVES, Southampton Animal Shelter, Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter and Yorkie 911.
