Mattituck Presbyterian to Offer Shelter, Private Showers, Dinner

Church to set up shelter Thursday and Friday nights for those still displaced from this month's storms.

Are you in need of temporary shelter due to the hurricane or nor'easter?

The Mattituck Presbyterian Church, located on Route 25 and Love Lane, will provide sleeping beds, private showers, and a hot dinner. So far the shelter is set up for the next two nights — Thursday and Friday, but if there is a continuing need, it may stay open longer, according to church authorities.

Please bring with you: towel & toiletries, pillow/twin sheets/blanket, your medication and change of clothes, books, laptop, etc. The church is wheelchair accessible, but if you are not ambulatory, you must bring your own assistant.

No pets are allowed, and the shelter is for Southold Town residents only.

Arrival time is 5:30 p.m. and leave time is by 8 a.m. the next day. Those in need must call the church on Thursday and / or Friday to register a request between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at (631) 298-4432. Please ask to speak to the storm shelter coordinator.

NOTE: If no calls are received by 4 p.m. each day, the shelter will not open.
