Alversa, a 24-year-old fisherman from Montauk, was pronounced dead Saturday night at a Virginia hospital where he was airlifted following a reported accident aboard the "Jason & Danielle," a 90-foot dragger.
North Fork‘Tornado’ Reportedly Sighted On North Fork
Despite reports of a tornado in the Laurel area, meteorologists say the technical word for the phenomenon is a "water spout." First responders in the Riverhead and North Fork area said they heard reports of a "tornado in the Mattituck or Laurel" area around 2 p.m. on Friday.
