Overnight Snow Forecasting Hazardous Commute

Winter weather advisory issued for all of Long Island.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the area, expecting travel to be impacted by a combination of snow, freezing rain, and/or sleet.

About an inch of snow is expected Monday night into Tuesday morning, including a thin layer of ice that could make the Tuesday morning commute hazardous. Snow is expected to begin after midnight, changing into sleet and rain in the early morning.

Temperatures at the beginning of the snowfall are expected to hover around the mid-20s, slowly rising past the freezing point as the morning continues.

The advisory will be in affect from 1:00 a.m. until 1:00 in the afternoon on Tuesday.
