Legislator Ed Romaine lauded members.

April 17, 2012 was officially Riverhead NJROTC Day.

Suffolk County Legislator Ed Romaine honored Riverhead High School members of the Naval Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corp at a Riverhead Board of Education meeting on Tuesday night.

The Riverhead NJROTC group was founded in Riverhead in 1974 and are among the "most dedicated students I have seen," Romaine said, adding the unit has won a number of awards in recent months, including a first-place win at a Mattituck drill meet in December and 10 trophies they took home at a William Floyd competition.
