Northampton residents Brad Bender and Larry Carnevale competed in the Southampton Rose Society's annual Rose Show at Rogers Memorial Library on Saturday -- and Bender took home the top prize.
Bender, who is also president of the Flanders, Riverside and Northampton Civic Association, entered a rose that won the first prize, Queen of the Show; Bender also took home five other silver awards in various categories.
Carnevale's rose won the Princess trophy, and he also won another silver award.

"Our rose garden was very productive and we both worked very hard," Bender said.
