Photos: 'Discover Riverhead Revival' Walking Tour Delights League of Women Voters

The League of Women Voters got a behind-the-scene tour of downtown Riverhead on Thursday.

The League of Women Voters experienced the best of downtown Riverhead last week, as they embarked upon the "Discover Riverhead Revival" walking tour on Thursday.

"We had a great day on East Main Street, visiting these three spots, plus East End Arts and shops, and enjoying lunch at various restaurants," Arlene Hinkemeyer of the LWV said.

Highlights of the tour included a chef explaining the curriculum to League members visiting the Suffolk Community College's Culinary Center and a tour of the Suffolk Theater restoration by general manager Anna Maria Villa.

In the lobby of the Sea Star ballroom at the Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center, League co-presidents Glorian Berk and Judy Samuelson, and Special Events co-chairs Joanne Samborn and Gladys Remler, as well as others were welcomed by the Atlantis staff and Town of Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter, who spoke about the Riverhead revival.

Afterward, League members toured the Hyatt Place East End, the Sea Star Ballroom, and the Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center, including the butterfly exhibit.
