Photos: Getting Down and Dirty At The Survival Race

The 5K race included an obstacle and mud course.

Scores of fun seekers turned out Saturday for an outdoor, survival-style race that kicked off at the 4-H property on Sound Avenue this weekend.

The Survival Race is no stranger to Riverhead -- last fall, a 3,000-person event took place on the 4-H property on Sound Avenue.

The outdoor races, according to the company's website, are run from Texas to Ohio to New York, and include obstacles such as mud runs, walls and nets to scale, and more. Another race is scheduled for September at the 4-H club in Baiting Hollow.

"They changed the course a bit from last time," Cutchogue resident Susan Tyler, who participated in September, said. "I think this one was more challenging. There were definitely way more people."

The event also featured vendors and music, she said.
