WATCH: Rockin' for the Homeless Packs the House

Annual fundraiser attracts supporters of John's Place to Polish Hall.

Riverhead Polish Hall opened its doors at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday to host the fifth annual Rockin' for the Homeless benefit concert. In addition to being a fundraiser for John's Place Mattituck, a portion of the proceeds were donated to helping Long Islanders rebuild in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Organizer Tom Gahan said that 350 people attended the concert and $12,505 was raised.

“Once again everything fell into place, we reached our goal," Gahan said. "John’s Place Homeless Outreach’s needs will be met and in addition, we will be able to help some East End Long Islanders rebuild from Hurricane Sandy. As always, the volunteers worked hard and the community came together to make the event a success. What makes this effort so worthwhile is that every penny goes to homeless needs. We have no administrative costs; it’s all volunteers.”
