Remembering the Fallen At Calverton National Cemetery

The Veterans Day ceremony begins at 2 p.m.

On Veterans Day, those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to their nation will be honored in a ceremony at Calverton National Cemetery.

The memorial will begin at 2 p.m. Elected officials and veterans are scheduled to speak.

"They'll remind us of the sacrifices our veterans have made," said Ricky Beauchamp, assistant program director for Calverton.

"America is founded on the principle of liberty and freedom," Riverhead Town Councilman Jim Wooten said. "The veterans who have given so much to defend our way of life can never be repaid for their sacrifices, but as a people, we can take the time to reflect and thank them. We owe them everything."

Are you honoring a loved one who gave the ultimate sacrifice this Veterans Day? Send photos of the veteran, or of troops serving overseas, along with your messages of thanks.
