Riverhead Pole Vaulter Brings Home Medal

Dan Normoyle broke his own school record just days earlier.

Riverhead High School athletes continue to shine: Pole vaulter Dan Normoyle made his hometown proud when he wowed in a state competition last weekend.

Normoyle cleared 14' 6" to place second in the large school pole vaulting competition and third in the federation competition at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships at Middletown High School on Saturday.

Normoyle, the Section XI champion, broke his own school record by reaching 15-0 in a state qualifying meet eight days earlier. Another Riverhead pole vaulter, junior Charles Villa, came in ninth at 14-0.
