Due to friday's heavy rains, The Department of Environmental Conservation has closed shellfishing in areas of Riverhead through Sunday.
The following areas are closed: All of Flanders Bay and its tributaries.
Also closed are areas on the North Fork, including Cutchogue Harbor, Pipes Cove, Orient Harbor, Hallock (Long Beach) Bay, Hay Harbor, West Harbor and East Harbor on Fishers Island; and, all other creeks, bay, harbors, coves and tributaries within the Town of Southold.
Areas are also closed on Shelter Island, including, Coecles Harbor, Dering Harbor, West Neck Harbor, Northwest Harbor and all the creeks, bay, harbors, coves and tributaries within the Town of Shelter Island.
