Suffolk County National Bank Asking Customers to 'Pause for Paws'

Donation drive will help shelter sustain services while it works toward building a new facility.

Suffolk County National Bank is partnering with Kent Animal Shelter this holiday season, offering customers at three branches in town the opportunity to donate to the Calverton shelter.

SCNB is asking customers to 'Pause for Paws,' where they can donate in increments of $1, $5 or $10 and have their name posted on different colored paws at the respective branch through the end of December.

"The shelter does tremendous work in finding homes for abused, homeless and abandoned animals and their low cost spay/neuter clinic is vital in helping control the pet population in our community," said said Brenda B. Sujecki, Vice President of Marketing for SCNB. "All funds received will go towards helping the shelter continue its services."

With the money saved through donations, Kent will be able to boost its own coffers as it works toward building a new, $2.5 million facility in Calverton.

"Unfortunately, now it's just putting Band-Aids on this, Band-Aids on that," Kent Executive Director Pam Green told Patch. "There's only so many things you can do to fix a concrete building up."

The three branches that are participating are SCNB's two offices located in Riverhead at 6 West Second St. and 1201 Ostrander Ave., as well as their Wading River branch located at 2065 Wading River Manor Rd.
