Watch a video of last year's event making a difference in young lives.

Children with autism will once again have the chance to surf and bond with their families at an event that promotes healing.

The East End Disability Associates, Inc., a Riverhead-based nonprofit organization founded for those with developmental disabilities in 1992, will host a Surfers Healing event, to take place on Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Ditch Plains Beach in Montauk.

The Surfers Healing Foundation is comprised of a group of professional surfers who contribute time and talent worldwide to give children an opportunity to participate in a one-day surf camp.

This is the seventh annual event sponsored by EEDA.

"The outpouring of community support continues to be overwhelmingly positive. Everyone who has come to the event always leaves with a great feeling, being able to witness a day that families feel loved, supported and have an unconditional sense of belonging," EEDA representatives said in a release.
