Veterans' Day: More to Flag Folding Than Touching the Corners

Twelve folds of Old Glory equal a proper fold, with each step signifying something different.

The United States flag, or "Old Glory" as it is known to some, means a lot more than red, white, and blue or 13 stars and 50 stripes to many people. It signifies a code of honor and a way of life. In living this way of life, respecting the flag comes with certain expectations and responsibilities.

On Veterans' Day, Dennis Krudler, a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, narrated a step-by-step presentation on the proper form and function in folding the flag. Twelve folds are required for a proper fold, with each fold signifying a different code in the way of life those who serve choose to follow.
