Before my son went away to college, three-day weekends were eagerly anticipated in our house.
Even when times were tough financially, we'd try to do something special, maybe going to New York City or on a day trip, traveling on the Cross Sound Ferry over to Mystic to visit the Seaport.
Other years, we'd head to Okemo in Vermont so my son could pursue his passion, snowboarding.
