What to Do After School? Here's Five Local Summer Camps

Patch comprised a list of five local summer camps to consider sending your children to this summer.

Spring is here, and summer is fast upon us.  If you're looking for ways to keep your children active and engaged this summer or an alternative to day-care, check out this list of five local summer camps.

RENAISSANCE KIDS CAMP AND SUMMER ARTS CAMPS

  • Renaissance Kids Camp is held at . This is a two-week program for children five to eight years old in which campers are introduced to a range of creative experiences. Each day includes visual arts, music, dancing, theater and dramatic play. Dates are Monday-Friday, July 18 to 29,  9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Early morning and after-care are available.
  • Summer Arts Camps are also held at the EEAC, for children ages 9 to 14. Several mini camps are offered, including: Paint It On! and Build It Up! fine arts camps; Act Out! an improv theater camp; and more. Session dates range from July 11 to Aug. 19. APPLE DAY CAMP

  • Apple Day Camp is held at at the  on Middle Road.  The camp offers horseback riding, arts and crafts, sports, archery, rock-wall climbing, fishing and at least four trips per week. Nine weeks of full day camp is offered for children ages 5-15 as well as a "tiny" camp for ages 3 and 4. Camp sessions are flexible. For more information, visit the website or call 631-369-0440

  • is located on Sound Avenue. This summer it is offering a newly restructured summer camp series for ages 6-12. Activities include animal care, farming, wood working, costume making, music and dancing, outdoor adventures and crafts. ACT OUT EAST

  • Act Out East holds all classes, workshops and camps at the . This summer two camps are being offered. Act Jr. will be in session from July 25 to 29 for children ages 6-9 and will feature classes in voice, acting and Broadway-style dance, with campers  performing scenes from "Willy Wonka." Act Out East camp will run August 22 to 26. This camp is for children ages 10 and up and will focus on the art of musical theater. Scenes from the Broadway hit "Hairspray" will be performed.   • The is located on Main Street in Westhampton Beach. It offers several theater camps, including Camp Broadway, for ages 10-17. Teen Theatre Troop for ages 12 and up teaches kids about acting, voice and movement. The Jungle Book Musical Theatre Camp for ages 6-16 involves puppetry and theatre games.
