Whiz Kid: James Peterson, Eagle Scout

Take a look at the young men and women of our community working hard under the radar.

Each week, Riverhead Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments. We want to hear about these amazing children and teens and select one each week as the Patch Whiz Kid. Submit your nomination in our comment box below or e-mail the information to josephp@patch.com. Be sure to include all of the following information:

WHIZ KID OF THE WEEK

  • James Peterson, 18
  • Boy Scout Troop 242 Riverhead
  • James recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
  • We start off our Whiz Kid feature with a Riverhead High School senior and Riverside resident who put in over 400 hours - count 'em - working to complete a project at the Brookhaven Volunteer Firefighters' Museum, just across the town border in Ridge. The project was to build a flag retirement pit, which offers the public a proper place to rid of tattered American flags, something for which James has great respect. In December, James passed his review for Eagle Scout. Our hat goes off to this hard working young man and we hope you join us in wishing James continued success!
