Your Weekend Planner: 5 Things Not to Miss
Farmers' markets and music mark the weekend in Riverhead.
With the summer in full swing, here's a list of five things to check out around Riverhead Town.
1) The Fabulous Greaseband: Get ready to dance the night away as the Polish Town Civic Association presents "The Fabulous Greaseband." Gates open at 6 p.m.; show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Food and drink will be available for purchase. BYOB is allowed. For tickets call the PTCA at 631-369-1616 or the chairperson at 631-727-7986.
2) Farm Fresh Food Market: The in Flanders opens on Saturday for its second season. The market will run through October 13 on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the David W. Crohan Community Center in Flanders. Also on Saturday, a car wash will be held at the same time and place to raise money for the new in Flanders.

3) A new farmers' market unfolds on the Peconic Riverfront on Saturdays, sponsored by the Riverhead Business Improvement District; o display their wares. The market is expected to be set up on the Peconic Riverfront every Saturday through August from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. and will include local arts and crafts as well as produce and other vendors.
4) Seal Release: A seal pup found in Montauk was rescued and nurtured at the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation. "Freckles" will be released on Saturday at 5 p.m. under the Ponquogue Bridge on Dune Road in Hampton Bays at 5 p.m.

5) Get wet: With the heat rising, why not head over to OutEast Family Fun in Riverhead for "The Hippo," the world's largest inflatable water slide. Enjoy the view from a three-story high platform and the thrills of a 40 degree drop. Enjoy mini golf and batting cages, too.
