McGann-Mercy Battle of the Bands for Japan

Rock On at the McGann-Mercy Battle of the Bands for Japan

On May 6th, students from local area high schools will converge upon Bishop McGann-Mercy Diocesan High School in Riverhead to compete in the McGann-Mercy Battle of the Bands for Japan.  Sponsored by the McGann-Mercy Key Club, this annual event is truly a regional “battle of the bands”, with 13 bands scheduled to compete hailing from high schools located in districts from the middle to eastern end of Long Island, including McGann-Mercy, Mt. Sinai, Miller Place, Mattituck, Eastport/South Manor, Hampton Bays and Center Moriches.

Starting at 7 pm on May 6th, tickets are $8 per person and will be sold at the door.  The top three bands will be presented with cash prizes.  All proceeds from this year’s event will be donated in support of the relief efforts in Japan for those suffering from the devastating effects of the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster that plagued the small island nation in March.
