Video: Construction Plugs Along at Suffolk Theatre

Owner Bob Castaldi renovating former one-screen movie theater to performing arts center.

Construction is plugging away at East Main Street's Suffolk Theatre. After purchasing the 800-seat theater in 2005, owner Bob Castaldi started construction in August of last year and recently took Riverhead Patch for a walk-through. While he was hesitant to give a timeline for an opening date, Supervisor Sean Walter said he was hopeful that the doors will be open by next year. Castaldi has grand plans in renovating the 1940s-era, former one-screen movie theater. In making it a performing arts center, he plans on adding tiered "cabaret-style" seating down the sides of the lower floor and eventually expanding the stage.
