The Southampton Village Board had it out again Tuesday with one of the  of a  to be built in the Highway Business district.

Abraham Wallach, a village resident who has promised to sue if the Village Board adopts the supermarket legislation, came before the board during Tuesday evening’s work session to pitch an alternative plan that he says would resolve the village’s need for a new supermarket while avoiding changes to the zoning code and a costly lawsuit over allegations of illegal spot zoning.

WESTHMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS

A summer job as a garden designer to get through college led life-long Hampton Bays resident Brittany Phillips to start a new business — Bella Vida Organic Cleaning.

Phillips, who graduated with an English degree from St. Joseph's College, said the gig as a garden designer made her realize how much she loved nature and would like to see it preserved for future generations.

While on break from the job as the season wound down in the fall, Phillips said her creative juices started flowing and she started thinking about a career where should could apply her love of nature.

It then dawned on her that a cleaning business tied in with organic products would be a perfect match for her.

RIVERHEAD

After news came out last Wednesday night that , Town Board members are moving forward quickly to develop a strategy to market downtown to potential investors.

Supervisor Sean Walter had spent much of his first two years in office courting the nationwide movie chain. But Thursday marked a change in approach.

As he continues his "store-by-store, block-by-block" approach to downtown development, following his experience with Regal Walter said he needs one big tool in his toolbelt to draw some anchor stores downtown — namely, a demographic study.

NORTH FORK

, located on Main Street in Greeport, will be around to sell more than a few more cupcakes — the owner, Mark Lamaina has decided not the sell the 5-year-old business.

Over the winter, put his business on the market for $80,000, even featuring it on Craigslist; however, he said he decided that he's not ready to give it up.
