For those wondering why Southfork Kitchen did not return for a 2013 season in Bridgehampton, the owner and New York Times blogger Bruce Buschel is shedding some light.

On Wednesday, nytimes.com posted the first in a series by Buschel on how it came to be that his buzzed about restaurant that opened in 2011 is no more.

In his first entry, he discusses the challenges of operating a restaurant in a seasonal area such as the Hamptons, and his experiences with real estate brokers.

Lucky J’s Brings Late Night Dining Back to Montauk

Lucky J’s, a chicken and waffles restaurant that opened on Montauk harbor over Memorial Day weekend, is gearing up for its new, extended hours through Labor Day: 24-hours a day, seven days a week, startingJuly 1. The move makes it only the second food business opened around the clock in Montauk. 

Owner and founder Jason Ulmas says he offers “good late night food,” and wants to make sure it's available to the late night, early morning crowd. His current hours at his new location at 400 West Lake Drive are already longer than most; 3 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Charter Fishing Boat Could Be Sailing Downtown

Anglers could soon be lining up for a new ride in downtown Riverhead.

Riverhead Town Councilman George Gabrielsen said on Thursday the board had received a proposal to bring a charter fishing boat downtown.

The vessel, the Shinnecock Star, has been docked in Hampton Bays for 15 years, Gabrielsen said. Captain John Capuano has expressed interest in bringing the 47' boat to Riverhead, he said
