Joe's Crab Shack Aiming for Early June Opening

June 4 grand opening expected at Route 58 restaurant taking the place of Boulder Creek.

After just under two months into demolishing the interior of the former Boulder Creek, management at Joe's Crab Shack on Route 58 is shooting for a June 4 grand opening date.

The 9,500-square-foot restaurant, located just next to TGIFriday's, is under heavy construction at the moment with a push over the next few weeks to finish up a complete renovation inside.

"We completely demolished the Boulder Creek appearance," said Abraham Gonzalez, the project superintendent. Everything from a new bar area to a new outdoor patio area to complete new duct work and refrigeration will be up and running once Joe's opens its doors.

General Manager Ann Bahr, a former TGIFriday's employee herself who most recently comes from Joe's Oceanside location, said that before the restaurant is up and running it's looking to hire anywhere from 140 to 160 staff members.

The experience at Joe's requires plenty of people to support it, she said.

"We like every guest to have what we call a 'Joe's craveable experience,'" she said, adding that every 45 minutes or so, guests can expect to see "dinner and a show." Watch a YouTube video of one show here.

"We make sure we take care of every guest that comes in the door, and the back of house is huge. We'll have three or four prep cooks on site and our production line looks to get food out in 10 to 12 minutes."
