Lowe's Construction Nearing End, Opening Expected in December

Store manager hopes to open store in the last two weeks of the year.

The new Lowe's Home Improvement store on Route 58 is almost complete, and should be opening within the next two months, depending on the weather, said the store's manager and a construction foreman at the building.

The building's construction is almost finished, said Guy, a foreman at the site who did not provide his last name.

"It's a matter of getting the shelves and everything else in," he said. Workers at the site were polishing floors on Thursday afternoon.

Marcus Lewis, the store's manager, said the store also had to finish electrical work, as well as plumbing, alarm systems and phone lines at the property before Lowe's could move in.

Lewis said he was hoping to open the store in the third or fourth week of December, weather permitting. The roughly 104,000-square-foot store began construction in early spring.
